The US has approved the transfer of a significant batch of American weapons from Turkey’s reserves to Ukraine. These are 70 M39 ATACMS missiles, 12 M270 MLRS launchers and tens of thousands of rocket and artillery ammunition. The corresponding message, Farvater Vostok informs, is contained in the official Congressional Record dated August 6, 2026. The PromPolitInform portal reports.
The transfer will consist of two packages.
The first package, worth more than $255 million, includes:
12 M270 MLRS launchers;
2,524 unguided M26 227 mm missiles with cluster warheads;
47,000 M509A1 203 mm artillery shells with cluster warheads.
The second package, worth about $28 million, involves the transfer of:
70 M39 ATACMS ballistic missiles.
The total cost of the two packages is over $283 million.
Since the specified weapons are manufactured in the USA, their re-export to Ukraine required the approval of the American authorities. The transfer will be carried out through the Turkish private companies MKE, ASFAT and ARCA Savunma, the Bulgarian VTIC International and the American companies Pansophico and Patriot Defense Group.
These are American systems that are in service with Turkey. The transfer of some of the obsolete ammunition and equipment will allow Ankara to reduce old stocks and direct resources to the modernization of its own armed forces.
An important nuance: the Congressional document is a notification of the proposed transfer/re-export, so the wording “will receive” is better presented as “the US has agreed to the transfer,” rather than as confirmation that all the equipment has already been transferred to Ukraine.
