Overnight and on the morning of August 14, the Russian capital and Leningrad Oblast came under a massive drone attack. Damages and a fire were recorded in the port of Ust-Luga as a result of impacts.
This was reported by RBC-Ukraine (Едуард Ткач), according to the portal PromPolitInform.
Overnight and on the morning of August 14, the Russian capital and Leningrad Oblast were targeted by unmanned aerial vehicles. The air attack resulted in damage near the port of Ust-Luga, where a fire subsequently broke out.
According to Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin, the first UAVs were detected approaching the city at around 23:44. At that time, the official reported the downing of two drones heading toward the capital of the aggressor state.
In the morning, Moscow authorities claimed that ten more drones were intercepted. However, the official’s statement did not specify whether these particular drones were flying toward the Russian capital.
Situation in Leningrad Oblast and impact on the port
At the same time, Leningrad Oblast also came under attack. Regional Governor Aleksandr Drozdenko noted that the raid began at approximately 02:53. By morning, local authorities reported the alleged destruction of 51 drones.
Despite claims regarding air defence operations, destruction was recorded near the port of Ust-Luga in the region. Following this, a fire broke out on the premises of the port infrastructure.
In early August, the Moscow mayor had already expressed concern over the increasing number of strike drones targeting the Russian capital. Additionally, on August 4, Wildberries warehouse complexes in Moscow and Leningrad Oblasts were attacked.
