Officials plan to increase bilateral trade volumes to $1 billion annually
Azerbaijan has proposed that Ukraine make more active use of its logistics infrastructure to supply agricultural products to the markets of Central Asia and the Middle East. The development of transport corridors was discussed during a meeting between Minister of Agrarian Policy Taras Vysotskyi and Azerbaijani Ambassador to Ukraine Seymur Mardaliyev. This was reported by USM — ports and shipping citing the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, according to the portal PromPolitInform.
During the negotiations, representatives of Azerbaijan expressed their readiness to utilize their own logistics capacities for the transportation of Ukrainian goods. This includes both deliveries for direct consumption in Azerbaijan and transit shipments to neighboring countries in the region.
The parties touched upon the issue of restoring stable maritime routes through the Black Sea. As the Ukrainian side noted, the decisive factor for the full-scale operation of these routes remains ensuring the safety of civilian vessels.
Economic cooperation and investment
A separate item on the agenda included measures to restore bilateral trade volumes, which previously reached the $1 billion per year mark. Work is also planned on attracting new investment into Ukraine’s agricultural sector.
To formalize the agreements and discuss further interaction, the parties intend to hold a meeting of the joint intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation. The event is scheduled for the end of November of this year.
