Military jets deployed due to aerial attacks targeting central regions
On Thursday, September 17, Poland scrambled military aircraft for the second time during the day due to fresh Russian missile and drone strikes against Ukrainian territory. Necessary forces and assets were pre-emptively deployed in the neighboring country's airspace. This was reported by Ukrinform citing Operational Command of the Polish Armed Forces, according to the portal PromPolitInform.
Due to the latest air attack launched by the Russian Federation against targets in central Ukraine, military aviation is operating pre-emptively in Polish airspace, the command stated.
Air defense readiness
To respond to the emerging threats, the Polish command deployed the required forces and assets. Ground-based air defense systems and radar reconnaissance stations were placed on high alert.
Earlier fighter jet deployments
Earlier on Thursday, the Polish military scrambled fighter jets in response to Russian strikes utilizing jet-powered drones against western regions of Ukraine. Alerts were previously declared in the Lublin and Podkarpackie voivodeships bordering Ukraine.
