Russian intelligence agencies use social media accounts to lure ZSU soldiers
In Zaporizhzhia, a 23-year-old ZSU platoon commander was lured to a date through a fake female account, after which a mercenary attacked him with a knife. The soldier survived after sustaining severe injuries, and the attacker has already been sentenced to 15 years in prison. This was reported by Glavcom, according to the portal PromPolitInform.
During a conversation in the Telegram messenger, the soldier, who was on leave after being wounded, informed his interlocutor that he held the position of platoon commander. This information served as a signal for the criminal plan orchestrated by Russian intelligence services.
Details of the attack on the soldier
When the victim arrived at the designated location, a 21-year-old assailant was waiting for him. The attacker stabbed the soldier 12 to 14 times, damaging his lungs, neck, and nerves. Despite his critical condition, the victim managed to escape, after which he was hospitalized.
As established by the SBU military counterintelligence, the girl’s account, through which the communication took place, was part of a honey trap. The detained perpetrator admitted that he had initially received instructions from curators to set cars on fire, but was later offered to carry out a murder.
SBU security measures
According to the Security Service of Ukraine, more than 50 assassination attempts against Ukrainian defenders have been prevented since the beginning of 2026. The enemy uses poisonings, explosive devices, and luring soldiers into dangerous meetings via platforms such as Tinder, Badoo, Pure, and Mamba.
Experts advise military personnel to minimize risks by scheduling initial meetings only in crowded public places and informing their fellow soldiers about their location. If any suspicious offers are received online, it is necessary to report them to the Security Service hotline at 1516.
