Military received over 1.3 million drones and systems worth UAH 85 billion in one year
More than 500 units of Ukraine's Defence Forces have gained access to the DOT-Chain Defence platform. The defence marketplace developed by the State Operator for Non-Lethal Acquisition (DOT) enables units to directly select and order required weaponry. This is reported by the portal PromPolitInform, citing information from the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine.
Over more than a year of platform operations, military formations received over 1.3 million drones and other technical equipment via the marketplace and the “Army of Drones. Bonus” framework. The total value of the delivered equipment reached UAH 85 billion.
System access expansion
New formations have joined the digital platform, including units of the “Drone Line” project and individual assault regiments. They can now independently order unmanned systems suited to their combat mission requirements.
The service is utilized by forces directly involved in combat operations: the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the National Guard, the State Border Guard Service, the National Police, the Security Service of Ukraine, the Main Directorate of Intelligence, and the State Special Transport Service.
“We are interested in having as many units as possible independently choose their own weapons,” said Deputy Minister of Defence Mstyslav Banik.
Breakdown of equipment orders
A year ago, the online marketplace was accessible to only 12 ZSU brigades. Expanding the platform across most components of the Defence Forces allowed military personnel to address urgent supply needs directly at the operational level.
Unmanned aerial vehicles account for the largest share of orders placed through the platform at 84%. Electronic warfare systems represent 8.6%, ground robotic platforms make up 7.2%, and ammunition accounts for 0.2%.
Procurement through the marketplace is funded via three state budget programmes: DOT-Chain Defence directly, the “Army of Drones. Bonus” initiative, and funding allocated by the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
