Decree promoting the National Guard colonel was published on October 1, 2026
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed a decree promoting Colonel Ihor Obolenskyi to the rank of Brigadier General. The relevant document was published on October 1, 2026. This is reported by the portal PromPolitInform, citing information from Official Website of the President of Ukraine.
According to Decree No. 1013/2026, the senior military rank was conferred upon Ihor Obolenskyi, commander of the 2nd Corps of the National Guard of Ukraine ‘Khartia’. Prior to this decision, he held the rank of colonel.

The document signed by the Head of State officially approves the new rank for the leader of the military formation performing missions within Ukraine’s defence forces.
