Moscow is considering negotiations but refuses to abandon its stated goals
Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that reaching peace agreements is possible, but threatened to accomplish all objectives of the war. The statement came amid discussions about potentially resuming trilateral talks involving Ukraine, the United States, and Russia. This was reported by Glavcom, according to the portal PromPolitInform.
Vladimir Putin spoke with media representatives regarding potential agreements. “I think we can reach an agreement. We agree with this. But if someone wants otherwise, well, it will be otherwise,” he said.
Meeting in Saint Petersburg
The development occurred against the backdrop of discussions on resuming trilateral negotiations with Ukraine, the United States, and Russia. Prior to this, the Russian leader met in Saint Petersburg with Steve Witkoff, the special envoy of US President Donald Trump.
Russian presidential aide Yury Ushakov announced Moscow’s readiness to resume the trilateral format in the first half of November. The main topic of discussion is expected to be the establishment of a security system for both states after the hostilities end.
Ukraine’s Stance
Ukrainian authorities insist on receiving clear security guarantees and do not recognize Russian-occupied territories as part of Russia. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy previously stated that a ceasefire along the current frontline would not constitute legal recognition of the seized lands as part of the Russian Federation.
