‘Sounds of Captivity’ rally held in Gdansk in support of Ukrainian prisoners

Participants urged the international community not to forget the citizens held by Russia

In the Polish city of Gdansk, activists held a ‘Sounds of Captivity’ rally to draw attention to the plight of Ukrainian military and civilian personnel held in Russian captivity. The event was attended by representatives of the Ukrainian diplomatic corps and families of the prisoners. This was reported by Ukrinform citing Consulate General of Ukraine in Gdansk, according to the portal PromPolitInform.

The rally was organized by the civic initiative Zjednoczeni Gdansk. It was attended by representatives of the Consulate General of Ukraine in Gdansk, including Consul Oleh Vysochan and Vice-Consul Denys Bas.

During his address to the participants, Oleh Vysochan emphasized the critical importance of keeping the issue of the release of Ukrainians at the center of international attention. The diplomat stressed that indifference towards the stories of those waiting for a long time to return home must not be tolerated.

The rally participants included relatives of those still in Russian captivity, including children and parents of defenders and civilians. Vysochan called on the world not to lose interest in this problem and to continuously exert pressure on Russia to ensure the release of the captives.

The diplomatic mission maintains that the voices of the families should be heard on all possible platforms, and the issue of returning the captives must remain a priority on the international agenda. Similar events have taken place in Gdansk before; earlier, rallies were organized in the city to support residents of the occupied territories.
