Domestic missile production is creating problems for the Russian anti-missile defense
The production and deployment of Ukraine's own ballistic missiles will significantly complicate defensive tasks for the Russian Federation. This weaponry is capable of exposing targets that were considered the most protected within Russia. This was reported by Ukrinform, according to the portal PromPolitInform.
Sitki Egeli, an associate professor at Izmir University of Economics specializing in security issues, emphasized the extreme difficulty of intercepting ballistic targets. According to him, the development and deployment of such systems require massive capital investments, but the result significantly alters the balance of power.
Effectiveness of anti-missile defense
The analyst noted that the real performance of Russian anti-missile defense systems is likely far lower than stated. The expert highlighted the lack of evidence regarding the effectiveness of S-300 and S-400 complexes compared to similar tests conducted in other developed nations.
“I have never seen real tests similar to those conducted by the Americans, Chinese, or Europeans,” Egeli stated. He added that Russian systems rely on the autonomous operation of their own radar, while modern missiles employ complex maneuvers and decoys.
Operational experience
According to the expert, a key problem for defense is the mismatch between the number of projectiles and available interceptors, a fact repeatedly confirmed in armed conflicts. Previously, it was reported that Ukraine successfully tested its FP-7 ballistic missile, during which Russian defensive measures failed to neutralize the launch.
