The President of Ukraine sees the need for a direct dialogue to resolve issues
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy has once again proposed a meeting with Vladimir Putin in Turkey to discuss ending the war. The head of state is counting on the mediation of Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in this matter. This is reported by the portal PromPolitInform, citing the Telegram channel of Crimean Wind.
The Ukrainian leader justifies his position by stating that the delegation format has exhausted the possibilities for resolving complex aspects of the confrontation. He is convinced that only direct contact with the person who makes final decisions in Russia can move the situation forward.
History of dialogue attempts
Similar initiatives have been voiced before. In May 2025, Volodymyr Zelenskyy expressed readiness for negotiations in Istanbul, but the Russian side refused at that time.
In June 2026, attempts to resume the negotiation process continued. At that time, the President of Ukraine sent an open letter calling for a specific schedule for a personal meeting to be set.
