Coalition of the Willing to Launch Military Exercises in Poland on November 9

Nearly 2,800 troops from ten countries will participate in drills at the Nowa Deba training range

A coalition of the willing consisting of 36 countries is preparing for military drills in Poland involving Ukraine. The exercises are scheduled to take place from November 9 to November 22 at the Nowa Deba range. This was reported by RBC-Ukraine (Олена Бджола) citing Le Monde, according to the portal PromPolitInform.

The goal of these activities is to test the alliance’s capability, led by France and Great Britain, to rapidly deploy forces in Ukraine after the end of hostilities. Meanwhile, the United States is not joining the operation, and its role in future security guarantees remains uncertain.

Approximately 2,800 soldiers will be deployed during the exercises near the Ukrainian border. The participants include ten states, namely France, Britain, Estonia, Lithuania, Germany, the Netherlands, Spain, Sweden, Belgium, and Ukraine.

Logistics and Command Testing

Despite the scale of the contingent, organizers do not plan any shows of force involving heavy equipment like tanks or missile systems. The primary focus will be on testing command systems and practicing logistical procedures.

Experts highlight the complexity of the task, which stems from the need to cross numerous state borders while moving units. In addition to logistics, a significant part of the program is dedicated to practicing counter-drone warfare techniques.

Coordination with NATO

Although the North Atlantic Alliance has been informed about the maneuvers, the organization will not participate directly. The exercises are intended to lay the groundwork for a potential deployment of peacekeeping forces, an option becoming relevant following a prospective ceasefire.
