Yuliia Mendels notified of suspicion of high treason

Investigators incriminate the suspect under the article on high treason under martial law

The Security Service of Ukraine and the Office of the Prosecutor General have notified Yuliia Mendels in absentia of suspicion of high treason and justification of Russian aggression. Law enforcement officers established her involvement in information-subversive activities against Ukraine. This is reported by the portal PromPolitInform, citing the Telegram channel of Security Service of Ukraine, based on data from Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine.

Law enforcement agencies have documented facts of illegal activity by the former official in the public space. According to the investigation, the suspect used her own social media pages and public speeches to promote the narratives of the Kremlin regime.

Articles of the Criminal Code

Yuliia Mendels is incriminated under several articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, in particular part two of Article 111 on high treason under martial law. She is also accused under parts two and three of Article 436-2 of justifying and denying the armed aggression of the Russian Federation.

International Discreditation

Expert assessments confirmed the systematic nature of the suspect’s actions aimed at discrediting Ukraine in the international arena. In her materials, she glorified participants in hostilities from the aggressor country and justified the full-scale invasion.

Response Measures

Since the suspect is currently outside the territory of Ukraine, specialized departments are carrying out a set of measures to search for her and bring her to justice. Procedural supervision in the criminal proceedings is provided by prosecutors from the Office of the Prosecutor General.
