Trump’s Tariff War: U.S. Announces 100% Duties on Chinese Goods

U.S. President Donald Trump has announced that starting November 1, the United States will impose additional 100% tariffs on imports from China. He made the statement on his Truth Social platform, Fakty reports, according to the PromPolitInform portal.

Trump Threatens China

According to Trump, the reason for introducing the new tariffs is China’s “extremely aggressive stance in trade.”

The U.S. president stated that Chinese authorities have warned other countries that, as of November 1, China will impose export restrictions on virtually all products manufactured in the country.

“This applies to all countries without exception and is clearly a plan developed by China several years ago. This is absolutely unheard of in international trade and represents a moral disgrace in relations with other nations,” the U.S. president wrote.

Trump added that in response to Beijing’s “unprecedented position,” the United States would impose a 100% tariff on Chinese goods, on top of any tariffs currently in place.

China has not yet commented on Donald Trump’s statement.

U.S.–China Tariffs

During the summer, the United States and China reached an agreement to roll back a number of tariffs imposed by both sides after Trump’s return to the White House.

In April, Trump raised total tariffs on Chinese imports to 145%, prompting China to retaliate with a 125% duty on U.S. goods.

However, the two sides managed to agree in May to suspend most of these tariffs following the first round of negotiations in Geneva. As a result, the United States reduced its tariffs to 30%, while China lowered its duties to 10%.
