Ukraine’s State Bureau of Investigation Publishes Statistics on Treason Cases

Since 2022, the State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) has been probing 2,890 criminal cases related to crimes against Ukraine’s national security.

The SBI continues to systematically identify individuals who have betrayed Ukraine or collaborated with the enemy during the war, the agency said on its official website on Tuesday, January 6, as reported by Korrespondent.net and cited by PromPolitInform.

According to the Bureau, since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion, investigators have launched 2,890 criminal proceedings involving threats to national security, including:

  • 1,926 cases of high treason (Article 111 of Ukraine’s Criminal Code);
  • 757 cases of collaboration activities (Article 111-1);
  • 52 cases of aiding the aggressor state (Article 111-2), as well as other related offenses.

As of early 2026:

  • 1,639 individuals have been formally charged;
  • 528 suspects have been placed on wanted lists;
  • 1,349 people are currently being checked for involvement in treason and collaboration;
  • 1,377 indictments have been submitted to court.

Among recent developments, the SBI announced another treason charge against a former lawmaker from the now-banned Opposition Platform — For Life (OPZZh).

The Bureau also reported charges against a member of the Kharkiv City Council affiliated with the former OPZZh party.

Previously, in September 2025, the SBI stated it was investigating 2,758 cases involving traitors and collaborators.
