Ukraine’s economy is growing even during the war

The economy of Ukraine revived in the second half of 2025, despite the blows to the energy sector and business, and demonstrates resilience even in difficult conditions. This, AgroPortal writes, was reported by the Minister of Economy, Environment and Agriculture Oleksiy Sobolev in an interview with LIGA.net. The PromPolitInform portal informs.

The ministry estimates GDP growth at 2–2.3% and predicts another 2% in 2026, even if the war lasts the whole year, the official added.

The main challenges for the economy in 2026, according to him, remain the shortage of electricity and increased Russian attacks on business. The Cabinet plans to compensate for losses of enterprises through grants for recovery and is preparing a broader business support program.

The minister named construction, domestic trade, the processing industry and the defense sector among the main drivers of economic growth. In addition, after two years of poor harvests, 2026 is expected to be a favorable year for the agricultural sector.
