In 2026, experts predict rising prices not only for vegetables and fruits but also for bread. The increase could reach up to 20%, with prices expected to grow gradually each month, PromPolitInform reports.

According to researcher Svitlana Cheremisina, bread prices are rising steadily. Each month, the increase ranges from 0.5% to 2%. The fastest growth is seen in premium-grade wheat bread, which rises by 1.5–2% per month. First-grade wheat bread increases by 0.9–1.5%, rye bread by 0.6–1.3%, and traditional wheat loaves (baton) by 0.5–1%.
Bread Prices in January 2026
If the current trend continues throughout 2026, prices are expected to reach:
- Premium-grade wheat bread: UAH 71–73 per kilogram (up 18–20%);
- First-grade wheat bread: UAH 55–57 per kilogram (up 15–17%);
- Rye bread: up to UAH 61 per kilogram (up 17–20%);
- Baton (500 grams): UAH 36–37 (up 15–17%).

Bread Prices in 2025
Cheremisina identifies rising grain prices as the main driver of the increase. According to forecasts by researchers at the Institute of Agrarian Economics, wheat prices could grow by an average of 10–15% in 2026. As a result, retail bread prices are expected to follow.
Earlier, reports indicated that some establishments have begun including generator surcharges in customer bills. Analysts have already calculated the actual operating cost of generators and examined public reaction.
