The opening ceremony of the 2026 Winter Olympics will take place on February 6 at the San Siro stadium in Milan, Italy, and in Cortina d’Amezzo, according to Suspilne, a newspaper that reports DS. PromPolitInform reports this.
The opening ceremony of the 2026 Olympics will be broadcast live on Suspilne and Suspilne’s regional television channels. The live broadcast will begin at 9:00 PM Kyiv time.
Speed skater Yelyzaveta Siderko will carry the Ukrainian flag in the main Olympic arena, and skeletonist Vladislav Heraskevich will carry the Ukrainian flag in Cortina. Symbolic ceremonies will also be held at the other two competition venues: Livigno and Predazzo. Snowboarder Annamarie Dancha and ski jumper Evgeniy Marusiak will be there holding signs reading “Ukraine.”
The Olympics will run from February 6 to 22. More than 4,000 athletes from 96 countries will compete in 16 sports and compete for 116 medal events.
Ukraine will be represented by 46 athletes in 11 sports: biathlon, luge, freestyle skiing, skeleton, short track speed skating, cross-country skiing, Nordic combined, alpine skiing, ski jumping, snowboarding, and figure skating.
