IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi stated that nuclear safety in Ukraine is under serious threat.
IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi stated that Ukrainian nuclear power plants have halted generation following a massive morning attack by Russia. This was reported by the Judicial-Legal Newspaper, as reported by the PromPolitInform portal.
According to him, such attacks pose a serious threat to nuclear safety.
The IAEA Director General calls for “restraint,” as the deterioration of the Ukrainian power grid has dangerous consequences.
As a reminder, the Ministry of Energy previously reported that the enemy launched drone and missile strikes on substations and 750 kV and 330 kV overhead power lines. As a result of the damage, the nuclear power plants were forced to reduce their generation capacity. To balance the energy system, electricity imports are being used, and measures to limit consumption are being implemented.
