KP “Kyiv Metro” plans to purchase 4,460 folding chairs for underground stations that work around the clock as a shelter. The procurement will take place taking into account the requirements of the legislation through the public procurement system.
This is reported in the utility, informs the portal PromPolitInform.
Additional seats are needed during an air raid in the capital, when thousands of people are at the stations at the same time – parents with children, older people. At the same time, the number of additional seats is determined taking into account safety and free evacuation routes.
As you know, in 2023, the International Organization for Migration transferred more than 10,000 folding chairs to the Kyiv Metro. The required number was distributed to 46 underground stations, taking into account the number of people using the space as a shelter. Subsequently, the stations were understaffed upon request. Due to active operation (disabling), as well as due to the non-return of part of the chairs, today the remainder is only about 2,400 units.
At the same time, we urge passengers to take care of property that is used together. Each saved chair is a comfort for one more person during an air raid.
We remind you: 46 underground stations work as shelters around the clock. During massive attacks, thousands of people are at the stations. Given that most of the air alarms now occur at night, we also ask you to take warm clothes with you – it is cool at the stations.
