US Secretary of State Marco Rubio isn’t sure Russia wants to end the war against Ukraine, but the US “will continue to test it,” according to Mind, citing Marco Rubio at the Munich Security Conference. PromPolitInform reports.
He called it “good news” that the issues that need to be resolved to end the war have narrowed.
“The bad news is that the remaining issues are the hardest to resolve. There’s still work to do on that front,” Rubio said.
In response to questions from the speaker, he said he didn’t know whether the Russians were serious about ending the war.
“They say they are. Under what conditions do they want to do this, and will we find terms acceptable to Ukraine that the Russians will agree to? We will continue to test it.” While everything else continues, the US has imposed additional sanctions on Russian oil. And in our conversations with India, we received assurances that they will stop buying additional Russian oil. Europe is taking its own steps to move forward. There is no attempt to buy time in this regard. We cannot answer this, but we will continue to test whether there is a solution that Ukraine can live with and Russia can accept,” the politician said.
