Law enforcement officers have detained several people as part of the investigation into the terrorist attack in Lviv. There is every reason to believe that the crime was committed on Russian orders. This was reported by the National Police, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, and Minister of Internal Affairs Ihor Klymenko, according to Fakty. PromPolitInform reports.

“The Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine reported on the details of the investigation into the terrorist attack in Lviv. Not everything can be disclosed publicly at this time. Several people have been detained. All the facts will be clarified as part of the necessary procedural work,” Zelenskyy said.

Klymenko noted that there is every reason to believe that the crime was committed on Russian orders.

According to the Minister of Internal Affairs, this is not the first time the enemy has deliberately set deadly traps for Ukrainian law enforcement officers using our recruited citizens.

Klymenko said he had heard the initial results of the investigation. He noted that surveillance footage made it possible to quickly trace the bomber’s route and capture the moment the explosive device was planted.

In his opinion, video monitoring systems are once again proving their effectiveness in crime investigations.

According to the National Police of Ukraine, preliminary data has established that improvised explosive devices planted in trash bins were the ones that detonated.

The minister claims that the first suspected bomber was apprehended 10 hours after the explosion.

According to the National Police, law enforcement officers located and detained the perpetrator within a few hours in a controlled border area of ​​the city of Stary Sambir.

She turned out to be a 33-year-old resident of the Rivne region. On the instructions of the so-called curator of Russian special services, the woman manufactured improvised explosive devices and planted them in predetermined locations.

According to Klymenko, he visited the wounded police officers and National Guard members in the hospital. The Minister of Internal Affairs shared that they quickly arrived to help after the first explosion and became the next victims of the terrorist attack.

“Everyone is receiving qualified medical care. I wish them a speedy recovery. Law enforcement officials are continuing their joint work to solve the crime,” he said.

Zelenskyy added that law enforcement will soon provide more information to the public. The President of Ukraine thanked everyone who helps protect our state and people.

Terrorist attack in Lviv on February 22, 2026

On the night of February 22, a terrorist attack occurred in Lviv, claiming the life of a young law enforcement officer.

According to the National Police of Ukraine, 23-year-old patrol officer Viktoria Shpilka died in the line of duty.

According to preliminary data, approximately 25 more people were injured in the terrorist attack in Lviv, including colleagues of the deceased. Medical personnel are currently providing all the victims with the necessary assistance.

The Security Service of Ukraine is conducting the pre-trial investigation in the criminal case. The most serious charge carries a life sentence.
