“We carry out effective active actions in the Aleksandrovsky and Gulyaypolsky directions. Contrary to the repeated reports of the Russian leadership, we are only strengthening control over Kupyansk and reducing the “number” of enemy saboteurs in the city,” he emphasized.
The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine stressed that Ukrainian defenders continue to restrain the Russian invaders in the area of the Pokrovsko-Mirnograd agglomeration.
On February 10, the Ukrainian military reported successful counterattacks by the Ukrainian Defense Forces near the administrative border of Zaporizhzhya and Dnipropetrovsk regions. At the same time, the speaker of the Defense Forces of the South of Ukraine, Colonel Vladislav Voloshin, denied the allegations of Russian “military commanders” about the Ukrainian “counterattack.”
On February 11, the Ukrainian Defense Forces cleared the village of Kosovtsevo in the Zaporizhzhya region from the Russian invaders.
In a report on February 12, ISW experts stated that the Ukrainian Defense Forces are conducting local counterattacks near the administrative border of the Dnipropetrovsk and Zaporizhzhya regions, using limited communication in the Russian army due to the blocking of Starlink and Telegram.
On February 16, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Alexander Syrsky said that the situation in the Alexander direction and in the Gulyaypol area remains difficult, but the Ukrainian Defense Forces successfully carry out counterattacks and assault operations.
On February 19, a spokesman for the Southern Defense Forces, Vladislav Voloshin, said that the Armed Forces of Ukraine were reducing the “gray zone” in the south and preventing the Russian occupation forces from moving deep into Ukraine, and the enemy’s statements about the capture of Krinichny in the east of Zaporizhzhya region did not correspond to reality.
On February 20, President Vladimir Zelensky said that the Ukrainian military had liberated 300 square kilometers of territory in the south of the country as part of counterattack assault operations.
He did not specify for what period this territory was liberated.
On February 22, the Air Assault Forces announced the Operation in the Alexander direction.
The main tasks facing the units of the group are the disruption of the enemy’s plans for further advancement in the Dnipropetrovsk and Zaporizhzhya regions, the defeat of the enemy’s group of troops and forcing it outside the administrative border of the Dnipropetrovsk region, the DSV of the Armed Forces reported.
On February 23, Syrsky noted that in the Alexander direction, at the junction of Donetsk, Zaporizhzhya and Dnipropetrovsk regions, Ukrainian defenders since the end of January regained control over 400 square kilometers of territory and eight settlements.
