Russia Attacks Power Facilities. Which Regions Are Experiencing Power Outages and Which Outage Schedules Have Been Introduced

Power Supply Situation in Ukraine

Russia, according to Glavkom, attacked power infrastructure facilities in Ukraine, resulting in power outages for consumers in some regions of the country. This was reported by the PromPolitInform portal.

The Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, and Sumy regions were hit the hardest. In some regions of Ukraine, hourly power outage schedules for all categories of consumers, as well as capacity limitation schedules for industry, are already in effect.

Financial Costs of Restoring the Energy Sector

According to new estimates, the total need for restoring and modernizing the Ukrainian energy sector over the next decade has reached $90.6 billion. This amount is 34% higher than previous damage estimates. Although Kyiv has already received significant assistance, the key challenge remains the need for systematic equipment inventory and professional maintenance. The Ukrainian Ministry of Energy urges residents of regions experiencing rolling blackouts to conserve electricity throughout the day, especially during morning and evening peak hours, to reduce grid load. Current outage schedules are published on the official websites of regional distribution system operators, and consumers can learn about changes in power supply on the pages of their regional power companies.

The situation in the energy sector remains extremely tense due to ongoing attacks on infrastructure. In a war-torn environment, the importance of rational resource use is determined not only by the need for restoration but also by the task of maintaining minimal system stability. Given the scale of the damage, Ukraine will need to continue to seek international assistance and investment to restore the energy sector in the coming years.
