The defense forces of Ukraine continue offensive operations in the Alexander direction, where nine settlements have already been liberated. Ukrainian units oust the invaders, destroy their positions and complicate the logistics of the enemy. Their progress continues.
This was reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on Facebook, informs the portal PromPolitInform.
The Ukrainian military command noted that in the southern direction, the Ukrainian soldiers of the Air Assault Forces continue to put pressure on the Russians and liberate the Ukrainian land.
“As of now, 9 settlements have been liberated. Three settlements have been cleared from the enemy in our zone and work is underway to liberate several more settlements,” the General Staff said.
What kind of settlements in question is still unknown.
The General Staff added that the Defense Forces carry out a systematic displacement of the enemy from fortified positions, combining point and massive attacks on manpower and equipment of the invaders.
The key role in the detection and destruction of targets is played by aerial reconnaissance units and FPV-calculations.
An important stage of the operation was the restriction of Russian access to the Starlink network, which significantly reduced the situational awareness of the invaders and complicated the management of their units.
Despite logistical difficulties and the loss of control over part of the territories, the enemy continues to attempt offensive operations.
It is worth noting that the Alexander direction is a section of the front at the junction of the Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk and Zaporizhzhya regions.
The General Staff stressed that the operation in the Alexander direction began on January 29, 2026. During this time, according to the Ukrainian military command, Russian troops lost 6,537 soldiers – killed, wounded or captured.
The operation is carried out according to the plan of the Defense Forces. A week after it began, the Ukrainian military limited the invaders’ access to the Starlink network, which worsened the situational awareness of Russian units and complicated their management.
Despite this, the enemy is trying to remain active and continues to try to advance. Ukrainian defenders respond with point and massive strikes, destroying equipment, weapons and fortifications of the enemy.
On February 20, the President of Ukraine said that the Defense Forces had liberated 300 square kilometers of territory in the south of the country as part of counteroffensive. On February 23, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine specified that since the end of January, the Ukrainian military has regained control over 400 square kilometers of territory and eight settlements.
The General Staff noted that in February 2026, the Defense Forces regained control over a larger territory than the Russian troops managed to capture, which was the first such case since the Kursk offensive operation.
Offensive operations in the Alexander direction continue. The Ukrainian military continues to liberate territories and destroy enemy positions.
