Ukrainian athletes took the first three positions in the biathlon race among athletes with visual impairments at the 2026 Paralympic Games. The winner was Oleksandr Kazik, and the silver and bronze went to Yaroslav Reshetynskyi and Anatoly Kovalevskyi. OBOZ.UA reports, the PromPolitInform portal reports.
In the race for athletes in the NS1–NS3 category, Oleksandr Kazik (NS1) together with guide Serhiy Kucheryav brilliantly covered the entire distance without missing and showed a result of 17:37.7. Together with excellent speed, this became the key to the gold medals of the 2026 Paralympics.
Reshetynsky (NS3) with guide Dmytro Dragun also shot without penalties and lost to the winner by 1 minute 2.4 seconds, winning the “silver”. Kovalevsky (NS3) took third place together with guide Oleksandr Mukshin. The Ukrainian with a clean shooting lost to the leader by 1 minute 6.1 seconds.
Ukrainian Dmytro Suyarko (NS3) with guide Oleksandr Nikonovich also made it to the top five. He allowed one penalty and showed the result of 18:53.7, losing to the leader by 1 minute 16 seconds.
According to the results of the first competitive day of the 2026 Paralympics, the Ukrainian national team won six awards and is leading in the unofficial medal standings. The team has three “gold”, one “silver” and two “bronze”.
As reported, on the morning of March 7, Ukraine won its first “gold” at the 2026 Paralympic Games. Taras Rad won the victory in the parabiathlon sprint in the sitting class.
We would like to remind you that the 2026 Winter Paralympic Games will be held from March 6 to 15 in Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo, Italy. Ukraine will be represented by 35 athletes: 25 participants and 10 guide athletes.
