On Tuesday, March 24, the heating season ends in the capital. The city authorities decided on this, taking into account weather conditions and forecast warming, the need for rational use of energy carriers.
The corresponding order of the Kyiv City State Administration has been signed, informs the PromPolitInform portal.
A balanced and timely decision to end the heating season also affects the fact that the people of Kyiv do not pay extra for the heating service in a warming environment.
The shutdown of residential buildings will begin on Tuesday, March 24, and social institutions – hospitals, maternity hospitals, schools, kindergartens, etc. – will be turned off at the individual requests of the heads of institutions.
The heating season in Kyiv began on October 29, 2025 and became one of the most difficult in history due to massive Russian shelling of energy infrastructure.
Winter was characterized by unexpectedly severe frosts up to -25 °C in Kyiv and other regions, which increased the load on the energy system of Ukraine. Russian attacks have caused prolonged blackouts, the disappearance of hot water and heating, the closure of schools and the deployment of heating points in large cities.
All the largest thermal power plants in Kyiv were suspended, and the Darnytska CHP did not resume work after the shelling on February 3.
