The Ministries of Defense of Ukraine and Saudi Arabia have concluded an important agreement on defense cooperation.
This was reported by the Telegram of the President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky, informs the portal PromPolitInform.
Zelensky said that before the meeting with the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, Muhammad bin Salman Al Saud, the corresponding document was signed.
The agreement lays the foundation for further contracts, technological cooperation and investment and strengthens Ukraine’s international role as a security donor.
The President noted that Ukraine is ready to share its expertise and system with Saudi Arabia and cooperate to strengthen the protection of lives.
“For the fifth year, Ukrainians have been fighting against the same terrorist attacks with ballistics and drones that the Iranian regime is now inflicting on the Middle East and the Gulf region. And Saudi Arabia has what Ukraine is interested in. This cooperation can be mutually beneficial,” he said.
They also discussed the situation in the Middle East and the Gulf region in general, Russia’s assistance to the Iranian regime, the situation on fuel markets and possible energy cooperation.
Agreement with Saudi Arabia
We will remind, earlier we reported that the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky unexpectedly visited the Persian Gulf region. Kyiv is preparing to sign an agreement with Saudi Arabia.
Zelenskyy arrived in the region seeking to offer Ukraine’s expertise in anti-drone warfare in exchange for defense support.
A week ago, Zelensky said that Ukraine is negotiating with the countries of the Middle East on defense agreements and in parallel offers the United States the so-called drone deal.
Besides, there are currently 228 Ukrainian military experts in Qatar, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Jordan.
Today Zelensky met with Ukrainian military experts who have been working in Saudi Arabia for more than a week.
The military reported to the president about the first results of the team’s work and conclusions both at the operational and at a broader level.
