As part of the Armed Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Command of the Direct Anti-Aircraft Cover Forces was created to combat the “chess.”
Commander-in-Chief Alexander Syrsky said that the Armed Forces are developing new effective ways to counter enemy strike UAVs.
He announced this on Facebook, informs the portal PromPolitInform.
“We draw conclusions from the latest massive attacks of enemy “shaheds.” The enemy changes tactics – we adapt our actions accordingly and develop new effective ways to counter strike UAVs. We are increasing the number of crews of interceptor drones, strengthening the training of military personnel. These and other issues were considered during a workshop on countering enemy drones,” he said.
Command of unmanned air defense systems reorganized
To strengthen the protection of Ukrainian cities, towns and critical facilities, we are also implementing organizational changes.
In March, the Command of Unmanned Air Defense Systems was reorganized into the Command of the Direct Air Defense Cover Forces.
The command operates as part of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and is responsible for the development and use of “small air defense,” modernization of equipment and training of personnel.
Today, this structure acquires operational capabilities and carries out the reception of certain forces and means.
Operation of interceptor drones
In March, the number of sorties of interceptor drones and indicators of destroyed targets increased by almost 55% compared to February.
Since the beginning of spring, our UAV interceptors have already destroyed more than 2.3 thousand enemy air targets.
The highest efficiency is demonstrated by drones of Ukrainian production. We are ready to share this experience with international partners.
At the same time, we need to further increase the number of UAV interceptors, in particular with automatic guidance systems. The enemy does not stop attacks – on the contrary, it increases production, modernizes drones and improves their use.
Work to destroy enemy drones
Since the beginning of March, our helicopters have destroyed 379 enemy strike drones. Anti-aircraft missile troops, mobile fire groups and individual anti-aircraft machine-gun battalions also work effectively on targets.
I heard a report on the implementation of the project of anti-drone protection of key administrative centers in the regions.
We pay special attention to the introduction of artificial intelligence and increasing the level of automation in the use of air defense systems – both for interceptor drones and for aviation and ground fire weapons.
“There are new challenges ahead. We keep in line and prepare to repel subsequent attacks. We protect the most valuable thing – the independence of Ukraine and the lives of our citizens. I thank every soldier for his daily military service. Glory to Ukraine!,” – said Syrsky.
