US President Donald Trump is seriously considering the possibility of the United States withdrawing from NATO. This is because the Alliance has not joined the US operation against Iran.
He stated this in an interview with The Telegraph, informs the portal PromPolitInform.
“I always knew that they (NATO. – Ed.) – a paper tiger, and Putin, by the way, also knows this,” said the US leader.
Trump recalled that he helped NATO, in particular in the war with Ukraine.
“We helped them without hesitation, including Ukraine. Ukraine was not our problem. It was a test, and we were there for them, and we would always be there for them. And they were not with us,” he explained.
Sources close to the president said he was also considering withdrawing US troops from Germany – a move he has considered since returning to office last year.
Earlier, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that after the completion of the operation in Iran, the United States will reconsider relations with NATO.
