The Verkhovna Rada adopted a European integration law on harmonizing the accreditation of conformity assessment bodies and the technical regulation system with European Union standards. This was reported by the press service of the Verkhovna Rada, writes “European Pravda“. The PromPolitInform portal informs.

The adoption of this law is an important step towards concluding an Agreement on mutual recognition of the results of conformity assessment of industrial products between Ukraine and the European Union (the so-called “industrial visa-free travel”) and further integration of Ukraine into the EU internal market.

The law is aimed at harmonizing Ukrainian legislation in the areas of technical regulation and accreditation with EU standards.

Its implementation is aimed at increasing the safety of industrial products, strengthening trust in national certification bodies and creating conditions for expanding access of Ukrainian goods to the EU market.

The adoption of legislative changes will contribute to the production of Ukrainian goods in accordance with European safety standards, improve the quality of products on the domestic market and expand the opportunities for Ukrainian producers to enter the EU market.

New jobs are also expected to be created, which will contribute to the growth of people’s incomes due to easier access of Ukrainian producers to the EU market.

It was also reported that the Verkhovna Rada approved draft law 14412 “On the principles of the separation and distribution of powers between levels of public governance”, which is important in the context of moving towards the EU.

As reported, the European Commission warned official Kyiv that the intentions to reduce the status of PEPs (politically exposed persons) to three years contradict European integration, and recommended that Ukraine hold consultations before implementing the relevant norms.
