The President of Ukraine responded to the Kremlin’s statement about the “Easter truce.”
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Ukraine is ready to act in a mirror in response to the “Easter truce” announced by Russia and supports any real steps towards a ceasefire, the PromPolitInform portal informs.
“Ukraine has repeatedly stated that we are ready for mirror steps. We proposed a ceasefire this year for the Easter holidays and will act accordingly. People need Easter without threats and a real movement towards peace, and Russia has a chance not to return to the blows even after Easter,” the head of state emphasized.
On the eve of the Russian dictator Vladimir Putin announced the so-called “Easter truce” from 16:00 on April 11 to the end of the day on April 12, as reported by Russian propaganda agencies with reference to the Kremlin.
Moscow said they were counting on similar actions from Ukraine, and the Russian troops were allegedly ordered to stop fighting for this period, while leaving them ready to “respond.”
Earlier, Zelensky repeatedly emphasized Ukraine’s readiness for any format of ceasefire, including Easter, and also stated the possibility of a mirror cessation of attacks on energy infrastructure if Russia stops attacks on Ukrainian facilities.
At the same time, the Ukrainian side previously emphasized that previous proposals for silence were accompanied by new massive strikes by the Russian Federation, which is why confidence in such statements by the Kremlin remains extremely low.
