The Verkhovna Rada extended the martial law in Ukraine until August 2. This was announced by MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak in his telegram channel, informs the portal PromPolitInform.
On Tuesday, April 28, the parliament by 315 votes supported the presidential bill №15197 on the extension of martial law in Ukraine for another 90 days. Two MPs voted against. The document was presented in parliament by Secretary of the NSDC Rustem Umerov.
Thus, the Verkhovna Rada for the 19th time extended the period of martial law in Ukraine, which was first introduced on February 24, 2022, on the day of Russia’s full-scale invasion.
Later that day, the Verkhovna Rada voted for the presidential bill No. 15198 to extend the general mobilization for another 90 days, that is, until August 2. 304 people’s deputies voted in favor. The Parliament also took this decision for the 19th time.
In both cases, two people’s deputies voted “against” – Alexei Goncharenko (“EU”) and Anna Skorokhod (deputy group “For the Future”). People’s deputies Georgy Mazurashu (“Servant of the People”) and Julia Yatsyk (non-factional) abstained from mobilization.
- On April 27, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy introduced bills to the Verkhovna Rada to extend the martial law and general mobilization in Ukraine. Thus, there will be no elections in Ukraine for the next three months.
