The Kremlin denies, but Der Spiegel insists: foreign journalists were denied accreditation for the parade on May 9

Foreign journalists, the Kremlin withdrew accreditation for the parade on may 9.

Unexpectedly for many, Russia withdrew the accreditation of foreign journalists who were supposed to cover the military parade on may 9 in Moscow. The decision was made after the issuance of invitations and it concerns a number of leading international media.

According to Der Spiegel, representatives of the Kremlin by phone reported the cancellation of accreditation for a number of major international media, including AFP, as well as TV channels ARD, ZDF, Sky News, Italian Rai and Japanese NHK, as well as the publication Der Spiegel, informs portal PromPolitInform.

The Kremlin did not invent anything more interesting than to explain the change of decision by the fact that “the format of the parade coverage has changed due to the current situation,” without providing any additional details.

At the same time, other media reported briefly: this year only Russian media will be allowed to cover the event.

This is the first time that foreign journalists initially received accreditation for the May 9 parade, but subsequently it was completely canceled.

Also as you know, the military parade in Russia this year will be held in a shortened format. The Russian defense ministry said that due to the “Current operational situation” on red square will not be a demonstration of military equipment. Usually during the parade in Moscow show tanks, missile systems and other weapons.

Recall, on the eve of President Vladimir Zelensky advised representatives of foreign States to abandon the idea of visiting Putin’s parade in Moscow on may 9.

It was also reported that in Moscow on may 9 will completely restrict access to mobile internet, as well as to SMS-messages. In addition, partial restrictions will apply in more than 40 regions.
