The Ukrainian side continues to record Russia’s attempts to draw Belarus deeper into the war against Ukraine.
The Russian Federation carries out additional contacts with Alexander Lukashenko, trying to convince him to join new aggressive military operations. According to the Ukrainian side, the Kremlin is considering two possible scenarios of actions from Belarusian territory: against the Chernihiv-Kyiv direction or against one of the NATO countries.
This was stated by President Vladimir Zelensky on May 15, informs the portal PromPolitInform.
“We know that there were additional contacts between the Russians and Alexander Lukashenko, which are aimed at persuading him to join new Russian aggressive operations. In particular, Russia is considering plans for operations in the directions to the south and north of the territory of Belarus – either against the Chernihiv-Kyiv direction in Ukraine, or against one of the NATO countries – from the territory of Belarus,” he said.
According to him, Ukraine has the details of the conversation between Russia and Belarus.
“Ukraine will undoubtedly defend itself and its people if Alexander Lukashenko blunders and decides to support this Russian intention,” the statement said.
The President instructed the Defense and Security Forces of Ukraine to strengthen the relevant direction and submit a response plan, which will be considered and approved at the Headquarters.
