US representative to the UN Economic and Social Council Dan Negrea said that Russia’s decision to launch an invasion of Ukraine was its strategic failure. As Ukrinform reports, he said this during a meeting of the UN Security Council. The PromPolitInform portal informs.
“Russia’s invasion of Ukraine was a strategic failure. Its oil refineries are on fire… Moscow cannot achieve its goals on the battlefield. Escalation will not change this and will only create the risk of worsening the catastrophe. This war must end immediately. Enough already,” Negrea stressed.
He called on UN member states to “immediately stop supporting Russia’s military efforts, since this war has no military solution”.
“This also includes Iran, which supplied drones to Russia for use in Ukraine, as well as Cuba, which continues the war, allowing thousands of mercenaries to fight on Russia’s side,” the American diplomat noted.
At the same time, Negrea expressed his belief that “this war can only end through negotiations.”
“The United States is ready, as before – and we have repeatedly said this to both sides – to contribute to a lasting cessation of the war,” he assured.
As reported, on Monday, the UN Security Council convened at the request of Ukraine for an emergency meeting due to the latest massive Russian attack.
