The European Union has decided to provide Ukraine with another 30 million euros to support the energy sector, which is experiencing systemic destruction due to Russian strikes. The new tranche will be part of a package of emergency assistance aimed at stabilizing the operation of the energy system and increasing its resilience on the eve of the autumn-winter period. This is reported by “Pershy Business“, the PromPolitInform portal reports.
The European Commission emphasizes that the funding will be used to purchase equipment, repair damaged facilities, modernize networks and provide backup capacity in the regions most affected by the attacks. These are transformers, mobile substations, generators and other critical infrastructure elements, without which it is impossible to guarantee a stable supply of electricity.
In Kyiv, the EU decision was called timely and strategically important. According to representatives of the Ministry of Energy, the additional funds will allow to accelerate repair work, reduce the risks of long outages and ensure a more reliable passage of the winter period. The agency emphasizes that international support remains a key factor for restoring the energy sector in the face of constant attacks.
Analysts note that the new tranche demonstrates the EU’s readiness to continue systemic support for Ukraine in the field of energy security. Against the background of growing threats to critical infrastructure, European countries are considering the possibility of expanding assistance programs, including long-term investments in the modernization of the energy system.
Recall that in Brussels they emphasize that support for Ukraine will remain a priority, and additional decisions may be made depending on the development of the situation.
