Metinvest Group paid UAH 8.5 billion in taxes over six months

In the first half of 2026, Metinvest Group channeled UAH 8.5 billion in taxes and fees to budgets at all levels in Ukraine. This figure is 8% lower compared to the same period of the previous year. This is reported by RBC-Ukraine (Сергій Новіков), the portal PromPolitInform reports.

The largest tax deduction categories were subsoil use fees amounting to UAH 2.3 billion, the single social contribution totaling UAH 1.7 billion, and personal income tax at UAH 1.5 billion. These data cover the group’s payments including associated companies and joint ventures.

During January–June, the group’s Ukrainian enterprises transferred UAH 777 million in value-added tax and UAH 636 million in land fees. In addition, the budgets received UAH 490 million in corporate income tax and UAH 437 million in the military levy.

The environmental tax for the specified period increased by 12% compared to the first half of 2025, reaching UAH 368 million. In total, from 2022 to the first half of 2026, the company has transferred over UAH 82.2 billion.

Industry continues to operate despite numerous logistical and security challenges.

Metinvest CEO Yuriy Ryzhenkov noted that the industry faces the blockage of Black Sea ports, attacks on energy infrastructure, and trade restrictions in the European market. “Preserving industrial potential is an issue not only of the economy but also of national security,” Ryzhenkov said.

Among other negative factors, the management highlights rising costs, deteriorating export logistics, the full-scale implementation of the CBAM mechanism, and a 30% increase in freight rail tariffs. The combined impact of these factors creates risks for the continued operation of metallurgical enterprises.

According to specialized associations, up to half of the industry’s enterprises may face the threat of shutdown by the end of the year. Recall that for the entire year of 2025, the group paid UAH 18.7 billion in taxes and fees.
