Analysts from the Institute for the Study of War reported on the Kremlin's plans to launch a new large-scale wave of strikes against the capital's energy infrastructure in the near future. The enemy aims to disrupt restoration efforts and exploit Ukraine's shortage of anti-ballistic air defence systems. This is reported by Economichna Pravda citing ISW, the portal PromPolitInform reports.
The Kremlin intends to launch a large-scale air campaign against Kyiv’s energy facilities within the coming weeks. According to analysts, the enemy expects to take advantage of the limited capabilities of Ukrainian air defence in intercepting ballistic missiles.
The primary objective of the potential strikes is to disrupt recovery work and hinder efforts to protect and fortify the capital’s critical infrastructure. Further intensification of enemy attacks on the Ukrainian energy sector is expected throughout the 2026/2027 winter period.
Power generation situation remains critical
Earlier, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that systematic shelling by Russian forces has left virtually no power plant in the country undamaged.
