A peaceful rally is taking place in the square near the Ivan Franko Theatre in Kyiv to support Mykhailo Fedorov and demand his return to the post of Minister of Defence. The participants include many young people, as well as citizens with children and pets. This was reported by Ukrinform, according to the portal PromPolitInform.
The participants of the gathering are holding posters with calls to be heard and requests not to break what is being built. In addition, people brought full-size images of Mykhailo Fedorov to the venue.
The event began with a moment of silence for fallen Ukrainian defenders.
The activists honoured the memory of the defenders of Ukraine who died in the fight against the Russian aggressor for the independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity of the state. Part of the protesters came with children and domestic animals.
Previous government changes triggered public discontent.
The Verkhovna Rada supported the resignation of Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko on July 14, leading to the automatic resignation of the entire government. Since then, protests against the dismissal of Mykhailo Fedorov from the post of Minister of Defence have started in several Ukrainian cities.
