From September 1, Ukrzaliznytsia employees will receive a 10–15% salary increase. The pay rise will affect more than 150,000 railway workers, primarily those in shortage-prone professions.
This was reported by Economichna Pravda, according to the portal PromPolitInform.
The planned increase in payments was announced by the Minister of Restoration, Infrastructure and Transport Mykola Kalashnyk. According to him, the railway company’s management will disclose the detailed terms and mechanism for the salary increase to the staff in the near future.
The official noted that financial incentives will be primarily directed at those specialists who directly ensure the stable operation of the railway. This concerns workers who repair wagons and locomotives daily, engage in the restoration of damaged infrastructure, and are responsible for train traffic.
Sources of funding and tariff indexation
The decision to increase payments was agreed upon during a meeting between the Minister, the labor collective, the company’s management, members of the Ukrzaliznytsia supervisory board, and members of parliament. Resources for this became available due to the support for indexing freight tariffs.
“We understand that this is a difficult decision for businesses. But the railway needs resources for transport, repairs, and recovery after Russian attacks. And just as importantly, it needs resources for people,” Kalashnyk noted.
The next stage of freight tariff adjustments is scheduled for implementation on January 1, 2027. As the head of the ministry explained, this step will allow for continued phased increases in the salaries of industry workers next year.
