ISW analysts have released findings on the Russian leadership's lack of readiness for peace negotiations with Ukraine. The report highlights that the strategic goals of the rf in the war remain unchanged. This was reported by understandingwar.org, according to the portal PromPolitInform.
The Kremlin currently shows no willingness for a genuine dialogue with Ukraine, as it relies on the total capitulation of Kyiv and a shift in the state’s political course. Moscow’s current stance is based on the conviction in its own capacity to achieve military objectives through force.
Strategic intentions of the Russian leadership
The Russian high command seeks to continue hostilities to deplete Ukrainian resources and international support. Any contacts initiated by the rf are aimed not at reaching a compromise, but at temporarily reducing pressure on its own forces.
Moscow continues to manipulate the topic of negotiations for domestic propaganda and to create an illusion of constructiveness in foreign policy. However, no real steps toward de-escalation on the front or renouncing the occupation of territories are observed.
