On the night of August 16, units of the Ukrainian Navy of the Armed Forces of Ukraine struck positions of the enemy's 'Bastion' coastal missile system in the temporarily occupied Crimea. As a result of the operation, Russian forces suffered significant losses in both weaponry and personnel. This was reported by Ukrinform, according to the portal PromPolitInform.
The strike targeted the deployment sites of the launch systems and the supporting infrastructure used for the maintenance of the complex. The process of establishing the extent of destroyed equipment and the number of casualties among the occupation contingent is currently ongoing.
Strategic importance of the complex for the enemy
The ‘Bastion’ system belongs to a list of critically important and high-value assets used by the rf to regularly attack Ukrainian cities. Using these systems, the occupiers launch supersonic ‘Onyx’ anti-ship missiles and hypersonic ‘Zircon’ missiles at the southern and other regions of the country.
Naval personnel continue systematic efforts to deplete the enemy’s combat potential in the Black Sea region. Such operations significantly limit Russia’s ability to continue missile terror against Ukrainian territories.
