Fuel prices in Ukraine to remain stable as expert assesses risks for filling stations

There are currently no prerequisites for sharp changes in petrol or diesel prices on the Ukrainian fuel market. The situation at filling stations remains balanced due to stable supplies across the western border.

This was reported by RBC-Ukraine (Марія Кучерявець) citing Dmytro Loushkin, according to the portal PromPolitInform.

Analysts note that the current situation in the retail fuel market is characterized by a lack of factors that would drive prices significantly up or down. Petroleum supplies across Ukraine’s western borders are operating normally, fully meeting current demand.

Against the backdrop of stable supply, individual filling station networks may make minor price adjustments as part of their marketing strategies. However, such moves will not have a systemic impact on the overall price level in the country.

External risks and global market impact

Future fuel price dynamics will depend significantly on global factors. The world market could be affected by developments surrounding Iran, as well as potential sanctions against the Russian oil sector.

In addition, the hurricane season in the United States remains a major risk factor for late August and early September. Extreme weather events could temporarily halt oil production and refining in US regions, affecting the European market.

According to Dmytro Leushkin, founder and CEO of Prime Group, a shortage of US supplies could trigger a price surge in Europe, which would subsequently impact the Ukrainian market as well.

Should drivers stock up on fuel in advance

Widespread forecasts suggesting petrol prices could drop to 77 UAH/l and diesel to 83 UAH/l in September are currently unconfirmed. While such a scenario is theoretically possible, it will depend on global market conditions.

The expert stresses that there is currently no need to panic-buy fuel reserves in Ukraine. The market is fully supplied with the required volumes of petroleum products.

“Currently, supply in Ukraine is fine. Fuel is available,” Leushkin noted, emphasizing that making mass advance purchases lacks practical logic.
