Eight countries, including Ukraine, have agreed to join EU sanctions against Belarus for supporting Russia’s war. The restrictions apply to goods, technologies and crypto assets.

Eight non-EU countries have agreed to join the latest European Union sanctions against Belarus, imposed on Minsk for supporting Russia’s war against Ukraine, UNN reports with reference to Euronews. PromPolitInform portal reports.

The European Union said on Tuesday that Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Norway and Ukraine would ensure that their national policies are in line with the measures adopted by the EU Council on July 23.

The EU welcomed the news. The sanctions expand restrictions on goods and technologies that could strengthen Belarus’ military, technological, defense or security capabilities.

In addition, additional restrictions are being introduced on imports of goods that could provide Belarus with alternative sources of income.

The measures also expand restrictions on Belarusian participation in businesses related to crypto assets and based in the EU. At the same time, the sanctions provide for exceptions so that goods and services necessary to support public internet infrastructure can continue to enter the country.
