Ministry of Defence selects four new first aid kit pouch models for the Armed Forces of Ukraine

The Ministry of Defence of Ukraine has approved four new first aid pouch designs for military personnel following testing of more than 30 domestic and foreign models. The new items are intended to replace obsolete gear and speed up the delivery of first aid on the battlefield. This is reported by the portal PromPolitInform, citing information from the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine.

Specialists from the Main Directorate for Development and Material Support selected the updated pouch options based on experience gained in intensive combat operations. Testing was conducted according to criteria of usability, internal space organization, quick-release capabilities, and ambidextrous access.

The selected models include a “Roll”/”Tunnel” type featuring pass-through access and instant sleeve extraction, as well as three rip-away designs with various mounting options, mesh pockets, and wider elastic bands for larger medical supplies.

Access speed to medical supplies is a critical factor in saving a wounded soldier’s life, noted Dmytro Samofalov, Director of the Health Department at the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine. According to him, the selected items will become the new supply standard for Ukrainian troops.

Frontline testing and procurement via ProZorro

The ministry has established temporary technical and quality specifications for the four selected types. This will enable military units, brigades, and volunteer organizations to procure pilot batches using special funds or charitable contributions.

Next, an operational trial phase lasting up to one year will begin in real combat conditions. Feedback gathered from soldiers will be used to adjust specifications and finalize the official Technical Specification.

The final document will serve as the basis for large centralized tenders conducted through the ProZorro electronic system. Any Ukrainian or foreign manufacturer will be able to produce the pouches according to the published requirements and participate in open auctions on equal terms.
