Ukrzaliznytsia proposes low-cost rail carrier for EU routes

The carrier plans to buy European-gauge trains jointly with investors

Joint Stock Company Ukrzaliznytsia has proposed establishing a low-cost passenger rail carrier to operate flights to European Union countries. The project is planned to be implemented by attracting investment funds. This was reported by Liga.Business, according to the portal PromPolitInform.

The Ukrainian rail operator is inviting businesses and investors to join forces to launch a new budget passenger carrier. The main goal of the initiative is to provide affordable passenger transportation between Ukraine and European countries.

To implement the project, the company considers it necessary to purchase specialized rolling stock. The trains must be fully adapted for operation on standard European-gauge railway infrastructure.

Investor partnership for international routes

The proposed model involves joint financing and management of the project together with private or international institutional investors. Building a fleet of new European-gauge trains will make it possible to expand the international passenger service network.
