Shipments abroad decreased to 62.8 thousand tonnes of metal products
In August 2026, Ukrainian enterprises reduced exports of flat-rolled products by 45% compared to July and by 51% against figures from August last year. The total volume of exported products amounted to 62.8 thousand tonnes. This was reported by Minprom citing the State Customs Service of Ukraine, according to the portal PromPolitInform.
Monthly trends show a significant decline in all major product segments. For instance, 45.6 thousand tonnes of hot-rolled flat products were shipped, reflecting a decrease of 51% compared to July and 59% compared to the same month in 2025. Cold-rolled flat products reached 13.8 thousand tonnes, losing 6% over the month and 25% year-on-year. Exports of coated flat products dropped to 6 thousand tonnes, falling by 44% from the previous month and 19% from last year’s figures.
Results for the eight months
Analysing the period from January to August 2026, total exports of flat metal products reached 971.3 thousand tonnes, which is 11.8% less than during the corresponding period of the previous year. Meanwhile, revenue from sales of these products over the eight months fell by 2.6% to 613.5 million dollars. In August alone, foreign currency proceeds dropped to 44.7 million dollars, showing a decline of 43% month-on-month and 38% year-on-year.
Consumption geography and structure
A significant share of the export structure for the eight months was taken by hot-rolled flat products, with a total volume of 766.3 thousand tonnes. The main markets for these products were Poland, Bulgaria, and Romania, which purchased 342 thousand tonnes, 127 thousand tonnes, and 81.8 thousand tonnes respectively. Poland also served as the primary buyer for cold-rolled products, taking 82.3 thousand tonnes out of the total 151.7 thousand tonnes.
As for coated flat products, Ukrainian companies supplied 51.6 thousand tonnes of this material to foreign markets during the eight months. This figure represents an increase of 27% compared to 2025. The largest volume, namely 42.6 thousand tonnes, was traditionally received by Poland, while a further 4.4 thousand tonnes were sent to Romania.
