The enemy attack on the historic city center left three more civilians injured
A Russian drone strike on Kyiv has hit a non-residential building of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. The attack resulted in the death of one woman and injured three other people. This was reported by Delo.ua citing Volodymyr Zelenskyy, according to the portal PromPolitInform.
The attack on the capital targeted a non-residential facility located in the historic part of the city. Rescue services are currently operating at the site, extinguishing a fire and assessing the structures for any additional victims.
Rescue operation and consequences
Medics have hospitalized three injured citizens. Rescuers continue to inspect the premises to ensure no other people in need of assistance remain inside the building.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy expressed his condolences to the victim’s family. The head of state emphasized the necessity of a proper response to Russian strikes on civilian infrastructure and called on international partners to continue their support for Ukraine.
Role of the National Academy of Sciences
The National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine is a leading scientific institution founded in 1918. Its structure comprises over 150 organizations engaged in fundamental and applied research across various fields of study.
The Presidium of the NAS of Ukraine is located at 54 Volodymyrska Street. The Academy plays a key role in developing scientific recommendations for state government bodies.
Previously, enemy attacks resulted in infrastructure damage, including the Opendatabot office in Dnipro and the Cosmonova data center. In the latter case, customer data was successfully preserved.
