The unmanned ground vehicle covered over 40 kilometers across land and water
Servicemen of an Ukrainian mechanized brigade have successfully completed the first logistics mission using a new domestically developed amphibious unmanned ground vehicle. The robotic system covered a distance of over 40 kilometers. This is reported by the portal PromPolitInform, citing information from the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine.
As part of the mission, the unmanned platform successfully transported ammunition and provisions to the forward positions of Ukrainian troops. The route spanned across both land terrain and water obstacles.
Overcoming front-line obstacles
The presence of rivers, canals, and swampy areas poses significant challenges for conventional military logistics. Standard unmanned ground vehicles often fail to cross such obstacles, and aerial delivery is not always a viable or optimal option under combat conditions.
The new Ukrainian amphibious robot addresses this issue by transitioning seamlessly between land and water modes. The platform maintains high off-road performance on land and adapts for water travel within seconds, enabling versatile operations across diverse terrains using a single system.
Supporting defense innovations
Prior to its deployment, the robotic system underwent several months of refinement based on direct feedback from the military. Engineers worked closely with active units to tailor the vehicle to actual combat tasks and front-line terrain conditions.
The development was supported by the Brave1 defense tech cluster, which provided a dedicated grant to bring the solution to practical application. The Ministry of Defence of Ukraine and Brave1 actively promote amphibious robotic technologies, having launched a specialized grant program in summer 2026.
